I made it back to school a day before classes started. My journey had come to and end so fast I was reluctant to make it official and write this blog post. My search for sustainability seemed like it had come to an end, but it really hasn’t. I will always be looking for opportunities to recognize an environmental ethic when I see it. I will be looking for the people who sacrifice convenience to save resources, and the people who are making alternatives to conventional living more mainstream. It helps me, as an environmentalist to see others acting in a similar way. It is so easy not to care, but once you care it is so easy to change. Learning from each other is what this blog is all about. Collectively we can change our society; the way we do business, the way we grow our food, the way we build…Individual action, as trivial as it may seem can create change when we do it together, and having hope means believing that taking these actions matter. The environmental movement needs more than politicians and nonprofits. It needs people to take a stand against our political and economic systems that tell us more is better, because we cannot have more forever. Sooner or later, there will be nothing to have more of. We know that we are causing irreparable harm to the environment. It is what we choose to do with that information that determines our future. This blog is about the people who have begun to recognize that and have started to change. Use them as inspiration, motivation, and hope, that one day, there will be a time when we won’t have to search for sustainability, or, when we won’t even have to define it…
